The work to identify and contact the most potential bio-based companies and investors has begun. The prospective actors to be mapped in the study have been divided into three different sectors according to how they could utilize the bio-based raw materials available in Suomussalmi:
- Forest-based (actors utilizing wood-based raw materials and by-products)
- Berry-based (actors utilizing wild berries and by-products from the berry industry)
- Biochemical-based (actors developing bio-based chemicals and materials)
The aim is to identify companies that are interested in investing in or expanding their operations to Suomussalmi and to find out what additional information potential actors may need beyond the study already conducted.
For those interested in establishing operations in Suomussalmi, a presentation of the available premises and plots in the Kurimo and Ruokapuisto industrial areas will be arranged.
