Now Released: A Video Showcasing Suomussalmi – A Growth Platform for Business and Industry

Suomussalmi offers a unique combination of logistical advantages, renewable energy, and natural resources tailored for industrial use. The newly released video highlights the region’s growing potential for entrepreneurs and investors.

The new Invest in Suomussalmi video provides a visually engaging introduction to the region’s key industrial zones. The spotlight is on two major development areas:

  • Kurimo Industrial Area, targeting the forest and wood processing industries
  • Food Park, focused on opportunities in the food industry

The video features drone footage enriched with zoning maps and rendered concept images that help visualize the locations and their future applications. One of the highlights is a visual simulation of a planned solar power plant in the northern part of the Kurimo area, shown in its real environmental context.

Suomussalmi is being developed as an industrial hub where local forest resources and side streams can be refined into products like biochar or specialty chemicals. In Kurimo, potential locations for a battery storage facility, biochar plant, and extraction unit are being mapped out.

The video also offers a look inside the facilities of Mehi Oy and Kemet Oy, two of Suomussalmi’s major industrial employers. Their CEOs share insights into operating a business in the region, highlighting the local workforce, infrastructure, and development potential.

The Invest in Suomussalmi video will be used at trade fairs and on the Invest in Suomussalmi website, aiming to spark interest among investors in the region’s abundant resources, strategic location, and skilled, committed workforce.
